Demand More COVID- 19 Testing Immediately

This is an urgent request for more COVID-19 testing so that we may track, isolate, and support our public health as well as shape public policies surrounding COVID-19. Without a true sample rate we cannot track and quarantine COVID-19. We need the necessary data to make informed personal and political decisions.

Currently, we are only testing severe cases (sometimes) and rarely testing mild to moderate symptoms. People who have been in contact with COVID-19 and test positive may experience little to no symptoms while potentially still spreading the virus. Also, people will continue to break their quarantine by writing off their symptoms as their usual allergies or asthma unless they are tested positive. We need actual infection rates (much higher than we see) and actual death rates (lower than we think) so that we as citizens, and you as leaders, can make the most ethical decisions shaping our choices and policies surrounding COVID-19. Epidemiologists, scientists, and staticians agree, you cannot track and isolate the virus, nor define infection rates and death rates, without the proper amount of testing (sample rates).

This is time sensitive for many clear reasons. One covert reason for time sensitivity is that testing immunity later will require a more expensive and invasive blood test rather than a simple nasopharyngeal swab (similar to flu or strep test) which can be administered via drive through or at home as a preliminary test while waiting for the CDC’s standardized test to return.

We need to test, quarantine, and support positive COVID-19 cases, people who may have been exposed to COVID-19, immunocompromised or people taking care of someone immunocompromised.

All political agendas aside, more COVID-19 tests must become the utmost priority to properly treat, track, and quarantine COVID-19 until we can safely return the public back to the economy.
