Let our exotics free!

I often go to pet stores for food, bedding, toys, etc. I’ve never been particularly happy with the way exotic pets are handled in pet stores such as petco and PetSmart, recently I went to PetSmart and something had possessed me to look at the chameleons, therefore I did. I am no vetnarian nor do I claim to be but as I examined the only chameleon in the terribly small glass tank, if the chameleon was to stand straight with his tail fully extended the tank might have been big enough front to back.. also there was a bowl of water... chameleons are not acostomed to still water nor do they prefer it.. chameleons need and enjoy heavy airflow that is not offered in a glass tank.. . the thing that struck my attention the most was the clear signs of MBD metabolic bone disease, this chameleon was horrifically skinny.. tail had many notches.. arms front and back were completely crooked and bent, this alarmed me so I told the lady at the register, she didn’t seem to care at all and when I noticed she hadn’t told anyone or did anything by the time I was ready to check out I also talked to a boy who claims everyone is certified to handle and properly care for the exotic animals.. clearly not the case! I feel that exotic pets should not be sold in pet stores unless proper living conditions are instilled. I also feel like exotics of any class shouldn’t be able to be purchased by just anyone I feel that unless a permit is permitted, such as a training course or class that properly gives the information and skills needed to take care of such an animal.
