We are a first grade class, named 1stA, at Blue School in NYC. We conducted some research and found that there are over 2,000 playgrounds in all of NYC and that only 2 are fully accessible for kids with disabilities. 1stA realizes that change happens slowly but we need to start creating that change now. We made some observations of the playgrounds around our community and found that Pearl Street playground, in downtown Manhattan, has a swing set. We are petitioning for an accessible swing be added to Pearl Street playground because as kids and grown ups we feel that there should be structures in playgrounds for all abilities. We want 2,000 signatures before we send it to our Council representative Margaret Chin. Thanks for your support!
