Demand the Enforcement of Speed Limits on Moulton Road

Although a residential street, Moulton Road is currently used a high speed cut-through to Winnacunnet Road, High Street, and Rte. 101. Numerous children live and play on the street and utilize Moulton's sidewalks to get to and from each public school, downtown, the library, beaches, and parks, yet enforcing speed has clearly not been made a priority. Police presence is rare to non-existent, speed limit signs are not prevalent, a speed monitoring sign was assembled and then removed and - despite countless requests to the police department and pleas at town meetings from residents - minimal/no effort has been made to make the street safer. Over the years, as residents helplessly witness drivers consistently exceeding 50 miles per hour, children and adults have been hit by cars and pets killed. We ask community members to join us in our plea to make the street safer for those who live on and utilize Moulton Road for playing, biking and walking purposes. At upcoming town meetings, we'll present this petition as we propose greater visibility of signage, a speed bump which was previously promised yet never installed, a crosswalk, re-installation of the speed monitor, and consistent spot checks by police with radar.
