Many of the neighborhoods in Philadelphia once had regular street cleanings, but now fail to continue that service. Philadelphia residents, some of the highest city wage tax paying constituents in the country, pay for sanitation of the city with every pay check. It is completely unacceptable to put the onus of clean streets on residents and block captains. The city needs to reinstitute weekly street cleanings and increase the number of trash cans in its neighborhoods for the health, safety, and overall well-being of its residents if not its own reputation nationally.
