Demand a Safe and Healthy Environment for All Children in the US!

Research has shown that children are the most susceptible to lead. Even low levels of lead exposure can cause developmental delays, learning difficulties, headaches, abdominal pain, and weight loss. Though many neighborhoods in the country have upgraded their service lines and solder to be lead-free, there are still some places that were never able to afford those upgrades, especially low-income neighborhoods.

Currently, there is a Safe Drinking Water Act in place in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). To bring attention to the dangers of lead to children, the House of Representatives has introduced the bill, H.R.4907, which will amend the Safe Drinking Water Act to include a grant-funded program in the EPA to replace lead service lines at educational agencies, such as schools and daycares around the country.

By supporting this bill, we will help ensure that all children across the nation have a chance to become capable adults with a bright future. We will be supporting the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Ethical Principle value: Service, which states the importance of helping those in need and addressing social problems.
