Demand an End to the Slaughter of Mute Swans Now!

Please sign to stop the unnecessary slaughter of Mute swans in Ohio by ODNR Division of Wildlife. Mute swans had been living at Lake Logan in Logan, Ohio for many years. Many local residents and tourists visited the lake to enjoy the beauty and splendor of the Mute swans. The swans lived in harmony with all of the other wildlife at the lake and NEVER attacked any humans. On September 9, 2015, before 7:00 A.M. ODNR went to the lake and slaughtered all of the mute swans with guns. The entire community was shocked and appalled! ODNR stated that they have a "Mute Swan Control Plan" and are planning to eradicate all of the Mute swans in Ohio by 2020. Their governmental website states the mutes are non-native, invasive, aggressive, exponentially increasing in population, etc. Websites consistently repeat these misrepresentations while ignoring current scientific research. Misinformation is then used as justification to kill mute swans. The justifications for mute swan killings are baseless. Mute swans are no more aggressive than any other wildlife species protecting young, nests or habitat. They are an important indicator species which alerts scientists to changes in the environment and are also the International symbol of world peace. We cannot simply stand by and watch as an entire species is killed due to non-scientific research.

Please sign this petition to demand ODNR Division of Wildlife to stop slaughtering our beautiful Mute swans!  We cannot simply standby and watch as an entire species is killed due to non-scientific research.

May such beauty and splendor inherent on Earth for future generations.  Please save the Mute swans.
