ALL MONEYS RAISED WILL NOW GO DIRECTLY TO THE WILDLIFE SOS TO HELP WITH THEIR CONTINUED WORK TO FREE MOHAN THEY HAVE GIVEN THEIR BACKING BY WAY OF THEIR LOGO ALL MONEYS RAISED WILLBE DONATED IN THE NAME OF "THE CARE 2 COMMUNITY"  PLEASE HELP.

Mohan is an Indian bull elephant who was taken from his mother at an early age and forced to work and beg and has been kept in chains for 50 years!

In July 2014 The Wildlife SOS Sanctuary took up his case and won custody of him but when they went to collect him he had "dsappeared" so they had to abort the mission and Mohan remained in chains.

In May 2015 The Wildlife SOS went to the Low Courts and again won custody of Mohan but a local politician objected to the ruling.  When they went to get Mohan this time they were confronted with a mob of around 300 people, so for Mohan's safety and their own, they had no choice to leave, again leaving Mohan in chains

On July 16th the case went to the High Court who have overturned the ruling of the Low Court, based on a vet report put in by his "keeper" The judge completely ignored 2 reports put in by The Wildlife SOS, one of which was completely independent and both concluded that Mohan needed urgent medical attention, something he would not get where he was, so in their opinion he should be transferred immediately to the sanctuary.

Mohan remains chained, forced to work and beg, without adeqate food and water. We must together do something to save Mohan.  I urge you all to sign my petition and send a personal e mail to the Commissioner of Allahabad demanding his assistance to get Mohan released. If we fill his e mail box he will have to take notice of us. His name is Mukesh Kumar Meshram and his e mail address is commall@up.nic.in

You can get the full story and photographs by searching "mohan the elephant"

Mohan and myself thank you for your time and urge you to sign NOW

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE WILDLIFE SOS IN INDIA  ARREST WARRANTS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THE PREVIOUS KEEPERS OF LAXMI AN ABUSED ELEPHANT YOUR SIGNATURES DO WORK BUT WILDLIFE SOS NEED HELP AND FUNDS TO CONTINUE THIS GOOD WORK

Respected Sirs

All of the signatures attached are pleading with you to help Mohan be free of his chains and to be released to the care of the Wildlife SOS to receive the treatment he so desperately needs.  There he will be loved and not beaten, fed and not starved, free and not chained. Help give him the life he deserves after 50 years of abuse.

Wildlife SOS and the Forest Department need your help to ensure a strong police presence to safeguard the release of Mohan and to keep his rescuers free from harm.

Nobody wants to see the scenes of the last attempt again and you can ensure that doesn't happen.

On the 13th August his case goes to court again.  We beg of you to help him win and throw out the claim from Mr Mishri who has illegal possession of Mohan, having had his licence revoked.  But he blatenly defied the laws of India and hid him so that The Forestry department and Wildlife SOS could not carry out his release.  By allowing him to ignore the law and continue to keep Mohan, albeit illegally, you sentence Mohan to continued abuse and surely this cannot be condoned.

The many hundreds of thousands of people who have signed petitions all over the world are watching and waiting.  Your names will be on the lips of everyone for the right reasons if you help Mohan gain his freedom.

We all beg of you - help us and every other person who has signed the many petitions from all over the world TO FREE MOHAN OF HIS CHAINS

Thanking you

Val Gaffney

Update #28 years ago
After posting last nights update, I have sent another e mail to the Commissioner of Allahabad pleading with him to help with the release of Mohan and to ensure that the Wildlife SOS team are given a very strong police presence to avoid a repeat of the last attempt.

If you haven't, or even if you have, please send him an e mail to show that I am not just some mad woman ranting on and that Mohan does really have lots of support.

Mohan's health is deteriorating and needs moving to the sanctuary urgently. The person holding him, continues to beat him and starve him of food and water. We MUST together help him. A small donation to the Wildlife SOS Sanctuary will go a long way to help pay for the legal battle they now find themselves in. The Wildlife SOS Sanctuary won't give up on Mohan - neither will I - will you join me?
