Spotify @ DHS

School is an important place for learning, but it can also be a source of stress for many students. Between assignments, tests, and balancing responsibilities, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Sometimes, we just need a healthy break to recharge and refocus. That's why we're asking for permission to use Spotify on our Chromebooks.

Music is more than just entertainment. Research shows that listening to music can reduce stress, boost mood, and improve concentration. Many students already use music at home to help them study, relax, or process their emotions. Allowing access to Spotify during appropriate times—like study hall, independent work, or lunch—could help us manage stress in a healthy way and create a more positive school environment.

We understand that teachers and staff want us to stay focused and productive. We're not asking to use Spotify during class lectures or group activities, but rather during moments when we're working on our own or need a quick break. With clear guidelines, we believe students can use music responsibly without disrupting learning.

We want our school to be a place where mental health is valued, and where students have resources to support their well-being. Letting us listen to music on our Chromebooks is a simple step that could make a big difference.
