China: Stop Allowing Mentally Disabled People to be Kept in Chains!

  • by: Ann Ward

China has little to no mental health care for its citizens. As a result, they live in deplorable and inhumane conditions. One such victim is an 11-year-old boy named Zili. His mother is dead and his father who is mentally handicapped, keeps him chained up to control his behavior. Sadly, he feels has no other options.

1 out 13 Chinese citizens are reportedly suffering from mental illness. Yet, there are only 1.5 psychiatrists per 100,000 people!

Tell the Chinese Government to put an end to this disgraceful treatment of its citizens by implementing more programs designed to train mental health care professionals, and facilities in which they will be safe and free of squalor and chains!

Dear President Zi JinPing,

We (the undersigned) plead with you to save your country's mentally ill citizens from a life of misery and in some cases chains! China can well afford to implement mental health programs and facilities to keep its citizens safe and get them on the road to management and recovery. No child should be kept on a chain like a savage animal!

Please act swiftly to save your own people.

Sincerely,
