They want to capture wild bears in danger of extinction

Bear Goiat and Cachou are living in the Pyrenees within the Piros Life program for the reintroduction of the Brown Bear in this territory. Goiat came from Slovenia to solve a problem of consanguinity between the current specimens living in the Pyrenees. We have only 40 Brown bears in the Pyrenees.

Therefore, we do not understand that now the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat of Catalonia, pressured by farmers and some political groups, wants to expel Goiat and Cachou from their forests.

Currently the Piros Life has a funding of more than 2.4 million euros that would allow the application of deterrent measures to allowing bears to adapt to the environment and that the livestock and its herds may to live without any problem.

Unfortunately what is happening is that the farmers do not follow the preventive methods and are leaving the flocks free without the appropriate controls. That explains that in the French territory, where their flocks are controlled, there is a 90% less bears' stock for livestock. In French territory at night the herds are located in fencing that, along with other dissuasive actions, causes the bear to not approach cattle.

That is why we request you to sign this request so that the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat of Catalonia rectify and not expel Goiat and Cachou from the Pyrenees.
