Help Mission Get a Real Synthetic Track!

Why does Mission need a synthetic track?
A synthetic track is one of the most basic athletic facilities in a high school
We have had the same dirt track since our school opened in 1964
Our track is used every day by PE classes, the track team, and Fremont residents
Current dirt track is hazardous for days after it rains (as a result our track can barely be used during the winter time)
The dirt track limits the training potential of Mission’s track team because we cannot use blocks and track spikes(shoes), and there are no lanes or distance markings so it is difficult (impossible) to get accurate times
Track athletes must go to TAK Fudenna Stadium to train on a real track however many athletes cannot get a ride and Mission must share the track with four other high schools as well which limits the amount of equipment we can use and space in which we can train
Current dirt track needs to be groomed occasionally which DOES cost money!
A synthetic track at Mission could also be open to other FUSD high schools that have a dirt track. This would provide Fremont’s five high schools with two synthetic tracks instead of only one.

Where Would We Get the Money?
Measure E ~ a $650 million general obligation passed by Fremont voters on June 3, 2014, with a 61.8% YES vote to repair, construct, and improve school facilities
