Aruba's natural landscape, flora, and fauna have suffered irreparable damage from some excursions, tours and activities that do not operate sustainably and use off-road UTV, ATV and other vehicles to tour outside of established roads and permitted zones. Aruba's magnificent sand dunes, formed over many centuries are being eroded, rare and endangered local bird and reptile species are being killed, plant species are lost after being coated repeatedly with dust and the beautiful coastal landscape of Aruba is being changed forever.
By signing this petition, you clearly send a message to the Aruban authorities and to those companies causing the damage that you want to stop the destruction and to see meaningful legislation now - to preserve all of Aruba's beauty, flora, and fauna for future generations.
At Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, we do not recommend or reserve an excursion for our guests, which is known to cause damage. Instead, we recommend environmentally-friendly options guests enthusiastically enjoy. We take time to inform our guests of the problem and how their participation in solving it is making a difference. We refuse to participate in the destruction.
For meaningful change, it is important that all of Aruba's resorts and tourism entities participate in this pledge and only partner with sustainably operating businesses.
We need your help and ask for your pledge.
...I pledge to help protect future generations by participating in the protection of Aruba's natural environment
...I pledge to learn which tours and activities in Aruba operate sustainably, responsibly, and safely before choosing one during my visit.
...I pledge not to choose ATV, UTV or other tours that currently drive over birds' nests, erode the magnificent sand dunes, exterminate wildlife and destroy plant life.
...I will only support environmentally friendly excursions, activities, watersports, and tour companies that are proven to do no harm.
...I promise to respect the beautiful island of Aruba and all its life so it may thrive on for generations.
...I support legislation designed to protect Aruba's natural environment.
