Close Down Sheep Farms in Chile Until Standards are met for Safe Animal Handling

  • by: Sue Lee
  • recipient: Michelle Bachelet, President of Chile

Various farms worldwide lack in proper humane handling of the animals and such is the case at sheep farms in Chile.  Investigations have been implemented with results documented by PETA to show evidence of abuse at these farms. You can read more about such animal abuse at  http://investigations.peta.org/sheep-killed-italian-wool/?utm_campaign=06072016%20Chile%20Wool%20Investigation&utm_source=PETA%20E-Mail&utm_medium=Alert

The video captured during its investigation of the sheep farms shows workers apparently violating Chile’s animal protection laws, such as cutting into the neck of victim sheep while fully conscious, causing extreme pain.  This is so cruel and unjust for these animals and such a facility needs to be shut down until they meet all appropriate standards in working with animals and can abide by all laws for animal protection.  Additionally, the abusers of these farms need to be held accountable with severe penalties while also being banned from ever working with animals permanently.

The efforts in this petition is to urge the President of Chile to close down these abusive sheep farms throughout the country until they can meet all safety humane standards of handling animals while also ensuring all workers be punished for their actions.  Such persons should never be allowed to work with, care for or even own any animals permanently.  You can help with this issue by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own ideas and thoughts on the subject.

Michelle Bachelet, President of Chile – After recent investigations that documented and videotaped abuse of animals at several sheep farms in Chile, I strongly urge you to intervene and stop the abuse.  Such abusive farms need to be shut down immediately and not be allowed to reopen until they can improve the facilities and meet all proposed humane standards under the animal protection laws.  Additionally, all the workers at these farms who allegedly abused the sheep need to be held accountable, sustaining severe penalties and never, ever again be allowed to care for, own or work with animals permanently.
