On May 11, 1996, Russell Baxter met my sister Stacie Housewright for a date. This was their first and only date. Stacie, looking for love, was dating men through a local newspaper's personal ads, similiar to today's online dating. Stacie was a fun loving and trusting person. She made the decision to travel with Baxter to his home an hour away. She had no idea that she had met a monster and this would be her last night alive.
Baxter and Stacie are the only two who know what actually happened that night. We learned through his trial that he, 6'4, had strangled Stacie, 4'10, with his bare hands and threw her away in the Delta Mendota Canal. During interviews he mentioned she begged to go home and he would not let her go. He CHOSE to kill her instead. He was sentenced to 2nd degree murder, 15 years to life in 1997.
5 years ago, me and my family traveled to the prison to attend his first parole hearing. We were successful in keeping him in for 5 years. Sadly, my family and I have just received another notice that he is having another "lifer hearing" March 7, 2013. We must fight to keep him in. Russell Baxter is a monster. When detectives went to his house to question him, he had more personal ad papers out with names circled. Was he going to do this again? Had he done this before? We don't know, and I don't want to find out. He must stay in prision!
Please sign this petition addressed to the Parole Board, asking to keep Russell Baxter in Prison.
My family and I thank you.
