Scottish Souvenir Land and the right to register ownership with RoS (Registers of Scotland)

Currently there is an abuse of power, one person can register land ownership in Scotland and another is blocked from doing so if their land is regarded as 'Souvenir land'. Each person has the basic human right to protect their ownership of land regardless of size. The people should have the right to petition the Scottish Government to repeal the 2012 Land Act and be permitted to register their land with RoS (Registers of Scotland). Souvenir land can be legally registered in England and Northern Ireland, the current Scottish position is unfair and a breach of basic human rights. Permitting souvenir plots to be sold, but then preventing the purchaser from registering their ownership is an appalling defect in Scots law. Similar legislation in Northern Ireland permits registration and in order to be Human Rights compliant, Scots law must be updated to bring it into line with best practice. Please sign this petition and lets make the Scottish Government aware of the unfairness of the current situation.
