The 300-person student body at New York City Charter School of the Arts is restricted to accessing the school via a single 12-person maximum capacity elevator. It takes a minimum of 30 trips to get all students into the school each morning. Families take arriving on time seriously and students struggle to do so given an unpredictable 10-20 minute wait in an elevator line. This is also causing additional stress impacting students' ability to start their day ready to learn.
There is an additional bank of 4 8-person capacity elevators shared by two other schools in the building. Since CSA has a staggered start time, these elevators could easily accommodate CSA students.
CSA Students deserve immediate action by the NYC DOE to provide appropriate access to the school.
