End Restraint and Seclusion of Special Needs Children in Texas Public Schools

Special needs children are being handcuffed, restrained physically, and physically secluded in rooms in our Texas public schools. This is abuse. These children are among the most vulnerable in society. Many are nonverbal, physically handicapped, and cognitively challenged. It is time to protect this population. CHILDREN with cerebral palsy, autism, downs syndrome should be protected not harmed. Restraint and Seclusion are not the answer. Other interventions and training should be employed by school personnel. Restraint is supposed to be a last resort, and yet Texas public schools often use it as a first recourse. CHILDREN are being harmed and in some cases, death as ocuured, and no one is being held accountable because restraint and seclusion is lawful. Help us repeal the restraint and seclusion of Special Needs children in Texas Public Schools. Please sign our petition which will be shared with Texas lawmakers. I want to repeal Restraint and Seclusion of Special Needs children in Texas Public Schools now.
