Demand Justice for Black Security Guard Hero Shot Dead by Police in Illinois!

Early in the morning on Nov. 11 a patron at a bar in Robbins, Ill., with a gun began opening fire. Fortunately, though several people were injured, the gunman did not fatally shoot anyone. What could have become a deadly mass shooting was stopped by the brave work of the security guards working at the bar.

Midlothian Police Department officers arrived on the scene and, according to several witnesses, opened fire on security guard Jamal Roberson after he had subdued the gunman. Roberson, a black 26-year-old, soon died at the scene from bullet wounds.

Police officials have been very tight lipped about the details of the shooting, confirming little more than the fact that the officer who fired at Roberson is white and is now on administrative leave.

Beatrice Roberson, Jamal's mother, says she does not know if this was a mistake, but she knows that her son is owed justice. Members of the Robbins community are worried that the officer involved will be protected and the matter will be swept under the carpet.

Add your name to this petition to call on the Midlothian Police Department to carry out a full, unbiased investigation of the shooting death of Jamal Roberson and demand the officer involved face criminal charges!
