Support the La Loma Children's Garden

Over a year ago the La Loma neighborhood Association turned a previously weed-infested area owned by the City of Modesto into a native plant garden to both beautify the neighborhood and to educate people on native plants in California. This project has been on-going and is continually being developed. A smaller part of this larger project is the "Children's Garden" in which girl scout troop 1639 has developed. We have received a beautiful art totem pole as a donation to our project. We also have a free lending library for the garden that one of our girl scout has made. In our original MOU with the City we agreed not to put structures in the garden. We intend to appeal to the City and ask special permission to install these items in our garden as we believe they will add much value to both the garden and the community. There is fear that structures will attract delinquents. We do not believe that either an art pole or a tiny library stocked with children's books will create any such problems. If you support the installation of these items in your neighborhood garden please show your support by signing this petition
