End federal funding for marijuana eradication. Stop federal marijuana eradication grants now!

It is time to legalize Mother Nature. Marijuana is a weed put here by Mother Nature to help us cope with being human. Plus, marijuana is the #1 cash crop, and we spend roughly $41.3 billion per year of our federal tax dollars on enforcement and eradication. A report, The Budgetary Impact of Ending Drug Prohibition (Miron & Waldock, 2010, Cato Institute, Washington DC), estimates drug legalization would yield tax revenue of $46.7 billion annually, assuming drugs are taxed at rates comparable to alcohol and tobacco. Wouldn’t legalizing marijuana boost the economy by $88 billion dollars? Why are we spending money to destroy our largest cash crop?

Did you know that the human body is equipped with an Endocannabinoid system, just like we have a digestive system and a respiratory system, etc.? We are physiologically programmed to process marijuana, also known as cannabis. Marijuana is the only thing that simultaneously quiets and expands the mind. It is time to end the lies.

Hemp is a wonderfully versatile plant as well as a natural fire retardant. Our Founding Father, George Washington, was a hemp farmer. Hemp has been illegal since 1937. Hemp is not legal to grow in the U.S. under Federal law because of its relation to marijuana, and any imported hemp products must meet a zero tolerance level. It is considered a controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act. Ironically, hemp is the number one biomass source on earth and could easily provide the US with all its oil and gas needs, thus ending America’s dependence on fossil fuels. That’s probably one of the main reasons it’s still illegal today (http://wafreepress.org).
