Tell Congress: Protect Wildlife and Reject Harmful Amendments to Senate Energy Bill

  • by: Sue Lee
  • recipient: U. S. Congress
A proposed amendment to the Senate energy bill could cripple wolf conservation and endanger wildlife.

A set of riders could undermine protections for endangered species and tear away at the very fabric of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) by limiting citizens’ ability to enforce essential protections of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) in court. Specifically, the amendment would:
  • Remove wolves from the ESA list in Western Great Lakes Area and Wyoming. This puts wolves at risk of being hunted during open season.
  • Remove protections for the endangered northern long-eared bats.
  • Block citizens from going to court in holding the government accountable when it fails to properly enforce the ESA.

Act now. Urge Congress to oppose these amendments and protect endangered species!

Dear Decision Maker:

I am strongly urging you to oppose any amendments to the Energy Policy Modernization Act (S. 2012). The proposed amendments would undermine the Endangered Species Act and strip away protection for endangered wolves and bats, as well as preventing citizens from going to court when the government does not properly uphold the ESA.

Please reject these dangerous riders and protect all imperiled animals.

Sincerely,
