A man in
North Carolina has been charged with animal cruelty, as well as child abuse and domestic violence, after he allegedly became physically violent towards two dogs and also endangered his wife and newborn child.

He is clearly a danger to animals and people alike, and he needs a comprehensible mental health intervention before he hurts anyone else.According to official reports, the man grabbed a German Shepherd dog by its neck, raised it up off the ground, and then threw it. At a different point he apparently punched the dog right in its head. He is also accused of assaulting a Doberman, kicking it in the ribs.
He did all of this in front of his newborn infant. As if this terrorizing behavior weren't already bad enough, he also began grabbing glass items and throwing them around the infant, who was cradled in the mother's arms.
This case very clearly illustrates the strong link between animal abuse and abuse of other people. Violent perpetrators often start their attacks by targeting animals first, and then escalate to humans - including children.
Luckily, authorities intervened and the man is currently being held in custody without bond.
But that alone isn't going to resolve the underlying issue. This man must also be mandated to attend consistent, intensive mental health counseling. Sign the petition!
