Our Childrens Safety Matter.

Snyder ISD should allow the children's Advocacy to teach our students about appropriate and inappropriate touching behaviors. Our children do not learn about the topic until 6th grade, in which they participate in a Health and Wellness course. As parents, we want to protect our children from harmful factors and to prevent them, therefore our children should approach the topic in their early stages of life. Every year the children's advocacy makes a call to our school requesting to host a course, but yet every year they get no response. The elementary principal herself mentioned the students are not prepared to handle a situation, such as sexual abuse, if it were to occur, due to the fact that they have not been introduced to the topic.
• Today, 185 Texas children will be victims of abuse.
• It has been confirmed that more than 65,000 cases of child abuse had taken place in Texas in just ONE YEAR.
• 1 in 4 Girls is sexually abused before her 18th birthday.
• 1 in 6 boys is sexually abused before his 18th birthday.
