El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies were caught on their own body cam videos trying to lure Zeus out of its fenced-in yard, and killing the pooch in Horizon City, Texas, on May 16. According to the deputies, they were forced to kill the animal after being called in to assist Animal Control officers, notes KTSM. The deputies had been called to a neighborhood on reports of a roaming, aggressive dog, but the dog they killed, Zeus, was not that dog, according to the dog’s owners, Billy Lopez and Eliza Silva, as well as several neighbors. Deputies and animal control officers can be seen on the body cam video trying to lure Zeus out of the couple’s backyard with dog food; the mastiff is not acting aggressively or threatening. After the deputies succeed in luring Zeus out of yard the body cam video cuts to Zeus wandering around outside his yard, after reportedly jumping the fence. The dog is not initially aggressive as deputies follow him with their guns drawn. It was clear Zeus was injured because video shows him limping. Turns out he had multiple thorns on his paws. Meanwhile its heard throughout the video neighbors pleading and screaming to the deputies to allow them to get Zeus. The English Mastiff made several attempts to retrieve to his home however deputies were in on the hunt. Eventually, Zeus having no way out charges one of the deputies, and is shot six times. As several neighbors and children watched and heard Zeus crying and suffering on the ground full of his blood for over 10 minutes a deputy later fires a seventh fatal bullet at Zeus head. Please help family seek justice. This can happen to anyone. Officers entering your private property with no regards is ILLEGAL... Justice is all we ask for and seek punishment for those officers involved.
