Emerson Students Demand Financial Reform

  • recipient: Emerson College Students

This past year Emerson College announced an increase in both Tuition and Room & Board by 2% for the 2021-2022 school year. On top of this, many students have reported an astronomical cut in their financial aid. Emerson's tuition was already grossly over the National average (even in comparison to other film & communication schools) and this new increase has negatively impacted the financial capabilities of many students & families. Previously, Emerson had stated wanting to decrease tuition by 2022 but has only done the opposite.

We are angry. We are hurt. We are suffering. The pandemic has affected all of us, not just the school. It is absurd to pay this much in the hopes of attaining a decent education in fields we are passionate about. We feel as though the individuals involved in these changes care more for the lining of their pockets than the livelihood of their students. It makes us embarrassed to be Emersonians. We, students, ask that Emerson re-evaluate their changes and put us first for a change.
