.The Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington, DC, has given a harmonica to their 36-year old Asian elephant, Shanthi, who they say was a gift from Sri Lanka and is used for their breeding program. Since then, they have published a video on the park’s YouTube site of Shanthi performing her musical trick. Debbie Flinkman, one of Shanthi’s keepers, states in the video that she regularly tapes the harmonica to Shanthi’s stall to encourage her to play, though they do not force her to perform.
