How does someone's heart become so hard that they come to take joy in murdering defenseless animals?

"A Michigan man has been charged with 125 wildlife crimes following a months-long investigation by the Department of Natural Resources.
"Kurt Johnston Duncan, 56, of Pickford was arraigned in Chippewa County's 91st District Court on Wednesday on numerous charges including illegally harvesting 18 wolves over the past 18 months and killing and disposing of three bald eagles.
"Wolves are protected in Michigan and are on the federal endangered species list. Bald eagles are protected under state law, as well as the federal Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act," reported MLive.
You might see this heinous list of crimes and assume he will be punished big time.
But look at this...
He is facing "up to 90 days in jail and $1,000 fine for each wolf. Up to 90 days in jail and $1,000 fine for each eagle. Restitution of $1,500 per eagle and $500 per wolf. Up to 90 days in jail and $500 fine each for the other wildlife crimes," said the same source.
Does 90 days sound like a fitting punishment to you, for killing a majestic wolf or eagle?
No matter what happen's in Duncan's case, and even if he ends up spending the maximum amount of time in jail, the day will come when he gets out of jail.
And when that happens, there's nothing stopping him from going right back to his old ways.
He deserves real punishment.
And that means taking away the thing he loves most: hunting.
That's why we're asking Bernie Sanders to lead a movement in Congress that would make it illegal for convicted wildlife murderers to ever hunt again. They won't be able to get a license.
Sanders has been a long-term advocate for animal rights, and has co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation to protect endangered species, as well as to combat animal cruelty. He's the perfect person for this role.
Don't you want to protect innocent wildlife from the likes of Kurt Johnston Duncan?
Then add your name to ask Senator Sanders to draft legislation that would punish wildlife killers, and protect our wonderful creatures of nature, by making it illegal for such convicted criminals to ever hunt again!
