A casual glance at the recent statements of Donald Trump on the COVID-19 pandemic might lead you to think that he genuinely believed that Americans are out of danger, and despite the loss of more than 100,000 lives, he has finally claimed a long elusive presidential victory.
But you need to read the fine print.
Before entering Trump's first campaign rally since COVID-19 shut down venues nationwide, attendees must digitally sign that they "are acknowledging that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public space where people are present… and agree not to hold Donald J. Trump… liable for any illness or injury."
In other words, Trump knows full well that he is endangering lives, but he cannot resist the ego trip. The only thing that matters to him is that the buck stops with someone else.
It doesn't matter that he's endangering his own supporters. We must not tolerate this reckless disregard for human life from the highest reaches of power.
