In an astonishing glimpse into how deeply white supremacist forces have inflitrated the institutions of state violence and channels of power, an Anti-Defamation League investigation found that hundreds of members of the far-right extremist "Oath Keepers" militia are police officers, members of the armed forces, or elected officials.
All told, 370 law enforcement officers, over 100 military servicemen, and 80 elected or aspiring public officials are members of the white supremacist militia. While not all the people are currently active members or have ever paid dues, their affiliation with the group is absolutely unacceptable.

"Even for those who claimed to have left the organization when it began to employ more aggressive tactics in 2014, it is important to remember that the Oath Keepers have espoused extremism since their founding, and this fact was not enough to deter these individuals from signing up," writes the ADL in their report.
Over two dozen people, including its founder, Stewart Rhodes, have been charged for their involvement in the January 6th attack on the Capitol. We cannot allow these extremists to continue to occupy positions of influence or power, especially the politicians — who might be planning to participate in Trump's next attempt to steal an election.
