Guatemala, Convict Rios Montt of Crimes Against Humanity!

Former dictator Rios Montt of Guatemala was recently found guilty of genocide and crimes against humanity. He was sentenced to 80 years in prison for allowing the mass murder of Mayans -- at least 1,771 people -- as well as mass rapes and other abuses during his time in office.

Guatemalans cheered as they celebrated the historic verdict that acted as the first acknowledgement of genocide even occurring. More than 100 witnesses testified during the trial.

However, now Guatemala has overturned the verdict and has decided to take the trial back to the middle of the process because of appeal problems. This happened just ten days after the verdict was issued.

This is nothing more than a delay of adequate justice. Please tell Guatemala to convict Rios Montt of crimes against humanity!

Dear Guatemala Government,

Rios Montt allowed almost 2,000 Mayan people to be killed during the Civil War in this country as well as other abuses, like mass rapes, to occur during his time in office. Because of this, he was sentenced to 80 years in prison for his crimes against humanity and genocide.

More than 100 witnesses testified, and after the verdict was issued, Guatemalans celebrated.

However, now you all have overturned the verdict because of appeal issues, and allowed the trial to be turned back just ten days after the verdict was issued. This is extremely unfair, especially since it is obvious Montt is guilty. Please convict him of crimes against humanity.

Thank you for your time.
