Support These 7th Graders' Idea to Help Animal Shelters!

Kids really are the future and the hope for a better world. Never was that more clear that when this class of 7th graders came up with the brilliant idea to raise funds for animal shelters in their state of Vermont. The kids want drivers in the state to have the option of paying $20 when registering their vehicle to get a special pet license plate and all the funds will go to helping out animal shelters. Their idea is so smart and wonderful that it is now an actual bill.

Sign on to tell legislators to vote yet on H.B. 252 and support the 7th graders in saving hundreds of animals every year!

The idea came about when teacher Ed Kolnaski asked his humanities class to come up with plans to help their community. They helped local bees and veterans, but the idea that everyone seemed to love the most was this ingenious idea to support animals who didn't have a home. These kids, just like the rest of us, love their pets and ache for the ones who don't find a forever home with a loving family.

Their teacher then walked them through how they could make a difference in a real world way. That's when the license plate idea came up! Certainly there are many Vermonters who would happily pay a bit more to get a custom license plate and help feed, house and care for the medical needs of homeless pets in the state.
