Earlier this year, Criterion announced that the Netflix original movies Marriage Story, The Irishman and American Factory are coming to The Criterion Collection on DVD & Blu-Ray
Fans of Korean director Bong Joon-ho argue that his Netflix masterpiece Okja should be added to the Criterion Collection too, because it was also announced earlier this year that Criterion would add two of his masterpieces including Parasite, (which won four Academy Award) and Memories of Murder. People argue that because it's a Netflix original masterpiece those listed above Okja should come to the Criterion Collection, too.
Bringing a Netflix original movie to the Criterion Collection means means that fans of those movies will get to enjoy bonus features like interviews with the cast and crew members which they can't enjoy on a streaming service. It's why many people still prefer DVD & Blu-ray versions of movies, even if they're available in streaming form.
In addition, I've read that there has been an upsurge in purchases DVD & Blu-ray players, because people are looking for entertainment during the coronavirus era.
