Make Worth Road Safe for our Kids!

Worth Road has become an ever increasing heavily traveled road not only by local residents but also by people passing through from route 9 to Northern Pines Road. There are many children and families that live on and near Worth as well as joggers, dog walkers, and other pedestrians. Currently the speed limit is 40mph, but where the road becomes a straight away in the middle, most cars tend to speed above that and with the people in the neighborhood, especially the children, it has become a very dangerous street. My daughter's bus stop is one driveway down from our own, but this past winter we were constantly horrified at the cars speeding by as we walked along the snow banks and narrower road to get to and from the bus. Other children have to cross the street after getting off the bus. I can not tell you how many times I stepped into the road to wave my hands for drivers to slow down! Last year there were speed indicator radar signs temporarily installed at each end of the road which helped to slow some cars, but after most past the signs and hit the straight away they inevitably sped up! We need a change! The best option that I can see is to add a stop sign creating a three way stop at the intersection of Worth Rd and Pulver Road. This is about the mid point for the straight away and a natural location for a stop. There would be virtually no impact for the residents coming out of Pulver, in fact it would make it safer for them, and it would cause the traffic on Worth road to slow down in stead of speed up. Please help me as we prepare to bring this issue to the town board one June 7 by signing this petition and help make our street safer for our kids, our family, our friends and everyone! Thank you for your support!
