Lights for Northside Skatepark

Currently, the only park with lights in Norfolk/VB is Williams Farm (Bayside) in Virginia Beach. Lights allow for all people to skate during all seasons. As the days get shorter, it becomes harder to enjoy and remain active in outdoor activities (including kids at school all day, and adults with 9-5s). During our very hot summers, lights allow people to skate at night to stay cool. The evening is a safer time for many to skate to avoid injury and heatstroke. Since Williams Farm is the only park with lights in the area currently, it gets very crowded which can get very dangerous due to the higher collision risk. Lights at Northside Skatepark is a win win for both parks because it would provide skaters options of two well lit parks. In addition, some people (including kids) can not make it out to Virginia Beach, causing their livelihood to be severed by the setting sun. Norfolk has an awesome skatepark that so many enjoy. Lights will extend that enjoyment into the evening, providing a safer and well-deserved park for everyone.
