Irish Dairy Calves Are Being Slaughtered or Shipped to the Veal Industry

Consumers across Europe are worried about the welfare of dairy cows, and for good reason.

In just a decade, the number of dairy cows in Ireland increased by nearly 60%. This has meant that a shocking number of surplus cows, or "unwanted" cows, are being born. These young calves are often slaughtered immediately on farms or shipped overseas to be turned into veal meat. And they have to endure this all before they're even weaned.

But there is a simple solution to this horrific treatment, one which most Irish dairy farmers support: increase welfare measures for dairy cows and calves.

Sign now to demand Charlie McConalogue implement better welfare measures for male dairy calves!

Male dairy calves do not deserve to be thoughtlessly slaughtered or brutally turned into veal simply because they cannot produce milk. Animals deserve to be treated humanely regardless of whether or not we can make money off of them.

The situation in Ireland is dire, and the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine needs to act. Sign the petition now if you agree!
