Trump Just Gave the OK to Poison Our Nation's Water

Clean drinking water is critical to all Americans. Yet, Trump's EPA has decided to mess with existing regulations and pull thousands of miles of streams and millions of acres of wetlands from some common-sense protections - protections that keep people, wildlife, and the environment safe from dangerous pollutants.

Sign the petition and demand they backtrack immediately! The EPA must continue to protect the precious resource that is our water.

It's not only essential to safeguard the bodies of water from which we drink, but the lakes, streams, and rivers that pour into them as well.

Nevertheless, this EPA has now finalized a change that removes all sources of water that aren't permanent from the Clean Water Act's protections. In other words, the streams and wetlands that pop up seasonally (usually due to rain) and flow into our primary water sources would no longer need to be regulated.

Just because they're not feeding into water sources year-round doesn't mean they can't do damage. Roughly one-third of Americans will drink water that can be traced back from these now unregulated sources.

How is that a good idea? The Clean Water Act is perhaps the most important environmental law ever passed by the U.S. Congress. It immediately made America the leader in environmental protections and cleared the way for a healthier future for all living things within the United States. Now, with one fell swoop, Trump has destroyed that. Let's use this petition to make sure the EPA knows we won't stand for it. Sign the petition and demand that Trump and the EPA reverse this horrible decision and continue to protect all waterways.
