Demand Changes to Carter County Youth Ball League!!

On Saturday December 29,2018, A seven year old child named Jordan Cosey played a benefit game with friends to raise money for Saint Judes. Jordan is a starting Point guard for Valley Forge Elementary Jr Cadet 2 through Carter County Youth Ball League. An unknown person screen shot pictures off of Jordan's Mothers facebook page and sent it to the Carter County Youth Ball league President Mr.Wayne Stout. Jordan's Mother received a call from Crystal Blevins who is President of Valley Forge Youth Club stating that Mr. Stout had notified them that Jordan had broke league rules and was not going to be able to play the rest of the season with this league. Essentially Jordan was kicked off his ball team. Jordan's Mother questioned what league rule did he break? She was told that he could not take part in any other league or organization during the season of the Youth Club. Jordan's Mother did not understand because Jordan was only playing a benefit game for Saint Judes Charity and that he has not joined another league or organization or New Team. This was simply a pick up game with friends for a Charity, No different than getting together with friends to play at the park. Jordan's Mother was denied any way to speak with Mr. Stout on behalf of her son. Mr. Stout told the Valley Forge Youth President not to give Jordan's Mother his number and that this would be addressed at the next meeting. When asked when next meeting was, Again no information was provided because all meetings are closed and not open to the public or Parents with this league. Jordan's Mother felt she should have a right to be present at this meeting to defend the actions of her son since his fate with his ball team was suppose to be addressed. She was denied access to this an outraged that the board could make such decisions about a child and team without an rebuttal from parent's in their defense. She was not allowed to challenge the rules or decisions on his behalf. As far as the league rules, They are vague and do not specify the difference between a league team and an unofficial just for fun team that was only made up for a charity. Jordan's mother wrote a letter to the Elizabethton Star Newspaper Editor for answers, This letter was published in the Star newspaper Jan 5, 2019. Still no response from Mr.Stout and no answers. WJHL news channel 11 done a report on this incident an it aired on Jan 10,2019 but still no answers from Mr Stout and he refused to speak with media. As of now this child is banned from playing ball because he participated in this Charity. Parents are demanding Answers for their children and this league! Where is the justification of kicking a seven year old child off his ball team and banning him from playing. These are children and do not understand what they are being punished for. It was our understanding that the Carter County Youth Ball league was for children whom are not old enough for school leagues and to teach our children the fundamentals of ball and Good Sportsmanship! What kind of impression are we giving our children if we allow this type of injustice? What kind of president do we have that would allow such and not look out for the best interest of our Children? These kids just want to play ball with their friends and learn the skills an fundamentals of ball. This is not the NBA, Although one of your children may be one in the future! We are asking for these next changes in this organization, First Rules need to be clarified or amended stating exactly what the Carter County Youth ball leagues definition of what a league or organization is an what the penalty and punishment is for breaking such a rule. Penalty or punishment should be the same across the board for all children and not specified for an individual for breaking foresaid rule. exactly why is this rule established and what kind of impact would it make on the league if broken. Parents should be able to vote on these rules established and made aware of rules and given a copy beginning each season with any new rules established for that year specified separately from any previous sign up sheet. Parents and Public should be allowed to attend all board meetings to voice questions and concerns on behalf of the children an league. Board meeting times and dates should be made known an not closed. If the President of this league is not doing what's in the best interest of these children, Then Parents should have the right to veto him out and establish a new league president.  A child should not be dismissed from a team without proper justification or investigating and a Parent should have the right to address the board before a final decision is made. It should be illegal to suspend or bann a child from a team for participating in any charity function!
