Against Newly Assigned Parking - Villas of Oakwood

On June 22nd 2018, Our neighborhood/ community received a letter enforcing parking for all residents including homeowners to park in their designated numbers that associate with their individual unit. The parking lot was recently updated to reflect these changes, however it was NOT done correctly, adequately or consistently. Concerns and complaints has been mentioned however this is still a policy in which thd community is being forced to utilize. Residents and homeowners were told to ask other residents for parking spaces. Well what happens when residents leave/relocate? Would this now be a parking space to claim? What happens for homeowners when renting, do they tell their renter's to ask a neighbor for an extra parking space for a spouse or visitor? Having spouses with children parking on opposite building sides to satisfy this new parking system is all an inconvenience to bill paying residents. Family and friends will no longer have a visitor parking pass and will have to park far on the street side of complex.

Recently this modified changed has caused a few issues and disputes within the community. Richmond is rapidly growing and this newly beautiful redeveloped area has made the Villas of Oakwood a very convenient place to live.

We have disgruntled neighbors fighting over parking when we could have enforced the method we originally had with parking decals and reserved parking. what about the prospective homeowners and renters moving to the area? What are your selling points? Safety and security is not one of them, which is definitely a high concern for anyone moving into the area.

The point that I must make is definitely about safety as it is the most serious topic in correlation to this new change, this new policy no longer makes this neighborhood a safe and community friendly place to live for anyone. The outcome of issues that could result in this new change is frightening as it was not very well executed.

By signing this petition you are agreeing that this method is not conducive to the community residents of this neighborhood. Not being able to see vehicles from the home, walking ample distance with groceries or medical issues , starting vehicles early in the morning will be an issue, the thought of not having quick access to your vehicle in the time of emergency is not safe nor accommodating. Asking neighbors can be an option, however most residents work hours conflict. As the residents of the community we should be allowed to offer input on parking accommodations that are easily accessible to our homes or even modify/update the previous parking system. This petition is to have the opportunity for the parking system to be more strategically and carefully implemented.
