Requiring Solar Panels on All New Homes Could Help Save the Planet

California state has set new regulations that mean, after 2020, most new homes must be fitted with solar panels.

This move caused a surge in the solar energy markets and could reinvigorate solar energy as a domestic appliance. Experts say that is where we need to be if we want to make sure we cut our greenhouse emissions via clean energy sources.

California has taken the lead on this, but New York State is ideally placed to follow suit.

We call on Governor Andrew Cuomo to support the state's existing Clean Energy Standard by adopting the same policy as California and ensure most new homes are fitted with solar panels by 2020.
