DEMAND the WV DOT switch back the signage to its original position

This Petition is for concerns of the new Stop Sign placed at The Morris Memorial intersection in Milton, WV.
If you haven’t yet traveled from Balls Gap/Trace Creek/Lincoln County/Salt Rock areas towards Milton you will soon find there is a new traffic stop sign as you come to the Morris Memorial/Pumpkin Park Road intersection.
The NEW Stop Signage is a concern for danger and hazardous crossings at the intersection.
I was informed by the WV DOT Traffic Manager Brian Webb the change was made to have better flow of traffic for the WV Pumpkin Festival a once a year event) due to the amount of traffic that flows through there. I argued that decision by stating the majority of traffic comes from Balls Gap, Salt Rock and Lincoln County areas vs the other two directions flowing from the Pumpkin Park and Morris Memorial roadways. I even spoke to the WV DOH workers who were placing the new signage and they agreed it was a bad decision to change the stop signs for the concern of dangerous traffic crossings.
This petition is to demand the WV DOT switch back the signage to its original way - the way it has been for over 70+ years.
Thus, with further investigation, the WV DOT has not been following proper signage at that intersection. This IS the reason why confusion existed before, because there were no Intersection Warning Signs in place.
The NEW Stop sign is placed in the direction where the majority of the traffic flows into Milton and its surrounding towns. The new set up is the Pumpkin Park and Morris Memorial roads will be without Stop Signs flowing freely and the East Mud River traffic will need to Stop. With this new signage, traffic will be backed up waiting to turn left or right while very little traffic will be traversing from the Pumpkin Park and Morris Memorial roads. There is NO good reasoning to change the traffic signage to accommodate a once a year event and the nearby temporary construction site. The Good Ole Boy requesters did not take into account the safety of the community in switching the signs. We must DEMAND they switch it back immediately before one of our loved ones is harmed and in a traffic accident.
As I was traveling to Milton after the DOT changed the signage, there were 7+ cars stopped in front of me waiting at the NEW stop sign and only one car traveling from either direction of Morris Memorial way. The new change is - the Morris Memorial traffic will flow freely without stopping in either direction.
This affects everyone that traverses from East Mud River into Milton, WV.
If you are in agreement to have it reversed, please sign this petition so we can present it to the WV DOT District Manager Mr. Scott Eplin.
I also wanted to point out, the Mayor of Milton was the individual who requested this reckless and irresponsible change. Also, there was no formal traffic study/evaluation to determine if this was the right thing to do. Both the WV DOT and our Milton City Mayor bowed to the requests of temporary situations .
As for having this new traffic signage, when the Pumkin Festival has began, traffic coming from East Mud River into Milton will have lengthy waits just to accommodate out-of-town traffic. While the Pumpkin Festival traffic is in no rush to get to the park, local citizens traversing to work or other important functions from East Mud River road into Milton will be delayed even longer. This is unacceptable!
