"ABC late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel said an interview he conducted with Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico will not air on broadcast because of what he called threats issued to his network by President Trump's Federal Communications Commission (FCC)." (source)
Kimmel put it even more bluntly.
"His FCC has threatened me, threatened my show, threatened our network … based on simple editorial decisions."
Kimmel says the Talarico interview will instead be shown on YouTube.
This isn't Kimmel's first run-in with Trump's FCC, which appears hell-bent on squelching any speech critical of Trump. The agency has previously used it power to try to silence Kimmel, ABC, and its affiliates over political programming, while ABC has sued the FCC, accusing it of retaliatory pressure.
And now Kimmel says that pressure is affecting whether viewers can see his interview with Talarico, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Texas, on broadcast television. Talarico and Republican nominee Ken Paxton are running neck-and-neck in recent polling.
Don't let the government use threats to stop us from saying what we want to say, and seeing whawe want to see.
Add your name and demand the FCC drop its threats against Kimmel and ABC.
