It has come to my attention that the Polk County Sheriff's Office does not use any kind of audio or video recording. This allows officers to conduct themselves in any manner that they choose to.
Possible evidence that could help to protect the rights of officers and citizens alike is not being utilized. Without dash and body cameras, officers can give false statements in regards to their actions. Subsequently, this can lead to police brutality and innocent people being found guilty of crimes they did not commit.
These devices can also protect police and help to capture criminals that may have assaulted an officer or simply fled from officers.
Help today by signing this petition to protect the citizens and officers of Polk County. DEMAND that the Polk County Sherriffs Office follow the lead of so many other police forces by equipping all of their vehicles with dash cameras and all of their officers with body cameras.
