Don't Wait Until Someone Is Killed To Put In A Stop Sign

We just had our fourth accident in 12 months at the corner of N. Woodstock and Parrish streets.

The last accident happened in the fall, and ended with a neighbor's parked car being totaled. This has not been the first time parked cars have been totaled thanks to speeding cars causing accidents.

The latest accident sent a neighbor's friend to the hospital. This crash so loud that folks heard it inside their homes, half a block away.

This intersection already had bad visibility - fender benders have happened every few months for the last decade - but the addition of a huge dumpster, has made this corner a near deadly one to cross, whether you're a pedestrian or a driver.

The lack of a stop sign at Woodstock also makes drivers - specially those unfamiliar with our area, or those distracted by a gadget - assume that there is no stop sign until 22nd St, and they end up speeding through one of the two crosswalks used by our children going to the neighborhood school, less than 500 feet away.

When walking my children home from school, I always have to wave at drivers so that they notice we are in the crosswalk and stop. I am so tired of this!

Will the city wait until someone dies to do something about this dangerous intersection? Perhaps a child walking to or from our school? Perhaps a visitor coming to a parade? Or maybe one of our elderly residents walking their dog?

Please sign my petition to ask the city of Philadelphia to make this intersection a FOUR WAY STOP for the safety of our neighbors, children, grandchildren, friends, and the visitors to our neighborhood.

Update #16 years ago
Great news! The massive dumpster on the corner is going to be replaced with a smaller dumpster and moved back away from the corner to allow for better visibility. This happened because people like you demanded that the city take action. So let's keep it up! Share this petition with your friends to demand that the city put in a stop sign at Parrish and Woodstock for cars driving down Parrish. Every signature generates emails to Councilmen Clarke and Greenlee.
