President Trump is about to spend several billion dollars to change the name of the "Department of Defense" to "Department of War." And people who actually know something about the military are horrified that he will be diverting money and attention from critically important matters for something so stupid, given that there are about eleventy billion crises right now that could draw us into war.

The Defense Department is enormous, with millions of people and a huge number facilities around the globe. Seemingly small things like changing letterhead, signs, etc., will add up to billions.
And it doesn't enhance our defense, it hurts it. By making us look like warmongering jackasses AND ridiculous at the same time, it will make it far more easy for our adversaries to appeal to neutral nations and even our close allies.
It's stupid, it's costly, and it's the kind of thing that could only come from the village idiot currently commander-in-chief. Trump needs to reverse himself on this, and if he won't Congress must do it for him.
