Our healthcare system is flawed and something needs to change about it

My name is Nathan Speller and i am an apprentice to become a brick/block layer. I love the work i do and its hard, dirty, super labor intensive and can be fun if you have the right people. The thing is its rare to find a construction company that offers health insurance for its employees for the simple fact we are all expendable. I have fallen sick with what i believe to be some sort of Gastrointestinal problem and has been going on for 3 months now. In this time and not having insurance i have never felt so judged and ridiculed in my life. I had to go to the ER yesterday and since i did not have insurance or could not pay 2500 dollars upon the time of services i was asked to leave the hospital and go elsewhere IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. Because this hospital doesnt accept medicaid payments, they dont have to follow the EMTALA act. Im the working man and i know im not alone facing the difficult decisions I am of paying bills or getting a health insurance policy? The cost of my bills is the cost of one monthly payment for a policy that would offer coverage...if they decide to insure me because i have a pre existing condition now. Construction is a big part of the economy and the fact that I have built hospitals before but can't get service in one is just not right in anyway you look at it. When every country in the wprld has a better healthcare system than the one we have for our country, it doesn't make me proud to be American. Maybe someone will see this and relate. Reformation is possible.
