DEMAND THE REMOVAL OF SHELTER DIRECTOR MICHAEL PASTORE NOW

Hempstead shelter director Michael Patore has shipped shelter dogs twice to facilities that have either been shut down by the state for animal cruelty or evicted FOR HORRIFIC CONDITIONS with dogs housed in crates living in urine, feces and amonst rats. The most recent rescue ( photo above) was inspected by Michael Pastore and he continued to send dogs there.

The town of Hemsptead paid these houses of horror tens of thousands of tax payer dollars and additionally the public was exploited for even more private funds. Our animals were sent to these places to hide mismanagment and wasteful spending in Hempstead's $5 million tax dollar budgeted shelter. Highly qualified employees were pushed out and replaced by politically connected unqualifed staff and 6 figure contractors.  Multiple law suits filed for harassment of volunteers and some staff costing tax payers thousands of dollars in legal fees.

In 2011 there was a NYS scathing audit of the shelter and we await the outcome of a Nassau County audit which should be released at any moment. Please sign this petition to remove the director who paved the path for every scheme that has put our animals in harms way and who refers to them as "Inventory."
