The Bali Starling is endemic to  Bali and also the national bird of this country. It is a  fairly large starling , its mostly white except for the tips of short tail and rounded wings which are black , the legs are grayish-blue and the heavy bill is grey or brown , this fascinating bird is classified as critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List, and is listed on Appendix I of CITES with less than 50 bird.
Threats are the illegal trapping in response to high world wide demand for cage bird trade , in  the mid 1990's  one Bali Starling was worth 2,000$ ,where an armed group stole almost all of the 39 captive individuals in the park because of repeated mismanagement and corruption,  inter specific competition, natural predation and disease.

The Bali Starling, is classified as critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List, and is listed on Appendix I of CITES with less than 50 bird.
