No More Lanyards!

    Students of Shawsheen tech,
The lanyards we received this year are very much not necessary. I am sure we all understand it’s for safety reasons but they are very unnecessary. I will give a few reasons why is as students do not like these lanyards and they must go.
For one thing they can be a distraction in class to students. Having something dangling from our necks constantly in front of our face can distract students from work in class.
Secondly, the lanyards and protective cases for our ID’s are very much cheaply made material. They break within a month or so and having to pay $2 for a new lanyard is not worth it. We get yelled at if we don’t wear the correct lanyard. I thought shawsheen was about expressing yourself?
And lastly, the temporary ID’s. We as students get a detention if we forget to return the ID at the end of the day but we as students feel that if the ID is around our neck or on our belt we can forget about it being a temporary ID. Plus the temporary ID are orange. When I see the color orange of the ID’s I think of prison uniforms. Do you really want our school to be portrayed that way?
