Free Menstrual Hygiene Products at Texas State University

86% of Women have started their period outside of home, without the supplies needed. In many instances, this has forced them to leave school or work immediately to get the supplies needed. Offering free menstrual products can increase class attendance by 2.4% (New York City Public Schools). For someone that uses the products, the exigent need for them coupled with the high cost of menstrual hygiene products makes for limited accessibility for students with low income. This issue is not exclusive to just women, but also to many transgender students on campus, these two groups make up almost 60% of the Texas State student population. This is not something our fellow students should have to worry about, we need to make a change.
